A Director's Thoughts (Episode 6 - Fashion Week & Divine Timing)

Hello friends. Another rant. Another update on life and whatever else is on my mind. As a new season approaches, so does new opportunity. It's always refreshing to step into the Fall. Liverpool F.C. are in full swing, American football consumes our Sundays (Still can't get over that Mink is on the Jets), along with our favorite shows that we may be streaming legally or illegally.
Recently, I just wrapped another Fashion Week. A non stop barrage of days, putting out fires, teaching common sense, avoiding negative energy, producing an end product that make people proud and a ton of practice on patience. The work is always taxing but the people who you are accustomed to working with make the experience better. A much different vibe from a film or TV set, however still very much a production lol. I recently made a video of the treatment of PA's on my TikTok & secondary IG (where over the past year I've been making funny comic and film content). It was a PSA on how they should be properly treated, properly fed & how there are some great leaders and some NOT so great. I can't stress enough how important good energy is on a set or production. It really is half the battle. So to my fellow freelancers, no matter your position, a reminder to always stay the course, be the beacon that you are & don't let anyone's insecurities or lack of leadership misguide you to a path of negativity.
At the end of the day, it's really not that serious.
After dusting off my production boots & producer hat for fashion, it was time to focus on my release of my last short film Coffee. Due to post production delays last year, I felt the delays in festival submissions, missing out on certain festivals I wanted to submit to. We waited an additional year to see where we were at with acceptances. Only to come to the realization (again & again) that some festivals are just lost in the sauce and only focus on being a popularity contest. I should know better by now.
With the recent rise of YouTube being a gateway for filmmakers, it was time to cut my stubborn ways and do what I should have done last year: put the damn film on YouTube. Films are meant to be SEEN. What a notion Trif. I was trying to protect my vision by making sure it had a decent festival run. I am grateful for 4th Wall Film Festival for accepting us and naming us Best New Jersey Film, also to Katra Film Series in the LES at the historic East by Angelika, which will forever be a moment I cherish, screening the film at one of the most iconic movie theatres in the world. Matt Damon was there. Pretty awesome stuff. Met some amazing fellow filmmakers that I now consider friends.
So, with those two experiences, that's all I really needed to move forward. I'm not the filmmaker to submit to fugazi festivals just to put 10 laurels on my theatrical poster. I thought that way at 23 years old. At 42, there are more important things to tackle as an artist. With that, Coffee will be live on YouTube on October 1st, 2026. 7pm sharp. Be there or be square. Or just stream it whenever you can after October 1st. It's a story I'm very proud of and super grateful for everyone that was attached to it. Truly a labor of love. Hopefully this will keep you entertained enough until my next project drops. Which I'm really excited about. More to come.
Be safe. Be well. Go watch a movie. Remember to smile. Blessings.
Trif
